Die Gebroke Hart [AFRIKAANS]

1. Geen Grap. Die gebroke hart is nou wel nie ‘n grap, maar, ten spyte van al die negatiewe retoriek oor die ‘gebroke hart’, is daar tog hoop vir diegene wat daarmee worstel. Terwyl hy ‘n vonnis van vier jaar uitdien (in die dodesel alhoewel hy later toe amnestie toegestaan is) in Suid-Afrika gedurende die 1940s, skryf die bekende skrywer uit die era, Herman Charles Bosman (1905-1951):

   “Though my heart is bruised and riven; 

Though my soul is scathed with scars … 

Yet I’ve touched the fringe of heaven; 

I’ve lived among the stars!”

2. Jesus Christus stap in deur die Skeur in 'n Gebroke Hart. Menige ‘n gebroke en eensame hart het al by Christus aangeklop vir onvergelykbare, kosbare troos vanaf die Goeie Herder, die Rots van die Eeue d.i. Jesus van Nasaret; selfs persone uit ander nie-Christen gelowe getuig vandag toenemend hoe Jesus Christus aan hulle in visioene en drome verskyn om hulle in hul uur van benoudheid te troos met die gawes van Genade en Guns uit die Hart van God. Diegene wat worstel met ‘n gebroke hart bevind hulleself inderdaad in goeie geselsskap. Die Bybel leer:

   “Die HERE is naby die wat gebroke is van hart, en Hy verlos die wat verslae is van gees … Die offers van God is ‘n gebroke gees; ‘n gebroke en verslae hart sal U, o God, nie verag nie!” [Psalm34:19; 51:19].

   Die Bybel beloof die wonderlikste prys (in die Ewigheid) vir diegene (afgesien van enige huidige godsdiens-affiliasie) met ‘n gebroke hart wat na Jesus Christus kom vir troos en hulp:

   “En God sal al die trane van hulle oë afvee, en daar sal geen dood meer wees nie; ook droefheid en geween en moeite sal daar nie meer wees nie, want die eerste dinge het verbygegaan." [Openbaring21:4].

3. Oscar Wilde. Op sy dag skryf die bekende Oscar Wilde (1854-1900):

“Ah! happy day they whose hearts can break and peace of pardon win!

How else may man make straight his plan and cleanse his soul from Sin?

How else but through a broken heart may Lord Christ enter in?”

Die Bygelowige Afrikaner [AFRIKAANS]

1. Afrikaners is plesierig. Hoe goed onthou ek die dae (1955) toe ons as kinders by die skool ‘volkspele’ moes leer doen op die maat van die lied, ‘Afrikaners is plesierig!’ Maar, min het ek geweet hoe pynlik bygelowig Afrikaners ook daarby kon wees. Voorbeelde:

1.1 Ateïsme. Wie sou nou kon dink dat ons (‘godsdienstige’) land ook al oor sy eie Sekulêre Humanistiese Vereniging (d.i.'n ‘Klub vir Ateïste’) beskik? Nietemin het menige Afrikaners hulle blykbaar alreeds verbind tot die godsdiens-bygeloof van Ateïsme, d.i. die wêreldbeskouing wat God en die Bybel verwerp en ‘glo’ aan DOOD-na-dood, sekerlik die mees morbiede en beloftelose ‘geloofs-belydenis’ op aarde. Hoekom mens jou met soiets kan ophou en nogal tyd, arbeid en geld aan die promovering van so ideologie kan spandeer slaan my dronk ... wat beoog hulle om op die langtermyn (bv. na die dood) daaruit te baat?

1.2 Sterrewiggelary. Die gewilde ('New Age' gedrewe) tydskrif Huisgenoot plaas toe weer sy gebruiklike Horoskoop (‘Sterre Voorspel‘) vir die Nuejaar (7 Jan 2021, p.62-66), nogal met die byskrif, “So beïnvloed die hemelliggame oor ligjare heen die fynste besonderhede van jou lewe op aarde.” (p.63). 

   Glo die mees geletterde (!) generasie van ons Afrikaner-volk nog werklik hierdie loutere snert in die naam van ‘wetenskap’? Dan het diegene verder nog boonop die vermetelheid om smalende aanmerkings te maak oor ander uit die inheemse volke van Afrika in die land wat nog aan die ‘Tokolossie’ ('Tokoloshe') glo! Watter skynheiligheid.

1.3 ’Skeppende (Teïstiese) Evolusie’. Ook bekend as 'Darwiniaanse Kreasionisme' sekerlik die mees ‘suksesvolle’ moderne bygeloof ooit, naamlik dat mense en die primate ‘dieselfde gemeenskaplike (oer) voorouer’ deel. Doen die wiskunde: Mense en primate kom so merkwaardig ooreen, nie omdat hulle ‘dieselfde gemeenskaplike (oer) voorouer’ deel nie, maar omdat hulle dieselfde gemeenskaplike Skepper (Jesus Christus) deel. Skeppende Evolusie is, inteendeel, ‘n onwerkbare, ongeldige bygeloof want:

► Sou die Klassieke (Ateïstiese) Darwinisme wáár (geldig) wees, dan ontbreek dit die ‘Skeppende Evolusie’ aan ‘n God in sy vergelyking om as werkbare teorie te slaag. 

N.B. Die Klassieke (Ateïstiese) Darwinisme laat nie 'n God in sy ideologiese standpunt toe nie.

► Sou die Klassieke (Ateïstiese) Darwinisme egter onwáár (ongeldig) wees, dan ontbreek dit die ‘Skeppende Evolusie’ aan ‘n Evolusie-teorie in sy vergelyking om as ‘n werkbare teorie te slaag.

N.B. Indien die Klassieke (Ateïstiese) Darwinisme ongeldig (inkorrek) is val die opsie van soiets soos die bestaan van 'n Evolusie-teorie weg waarsonder Skeppende Evolusie nie sal slaag as 'n werkbare teorie nie.

   Doen die wiskunde: Die bogenoemde twee wêreldbeskouinge nl. die Klassieke (Ateïstiese) Darwinisme en die ‘Skeppende Evolusie’ kan in die eerste plek nie albei gelyktydig korrek (geldig) wees nie, aangeslien die twee onderling uitsluitend is (ma.w. dit is die een of die ander); so watter een van die twee moet onkundige mense nou volg? Ek noem dit teen die agtergrond van die feit dat meeste Evangeliese Christene wat die Bybelse beloftes en leringe van Jesus Christus ernstig opneem in elk geval nie een van die twee beskouinge aanvaar nie.

1.4 LOTTO & Dobbel. Na raming het die gemiddelde Suid-Afrikaner ‘n sestig (60) keer groter kans om deur die weerlig raakgeslaan te word as om die LOTTO te wen. ‘n Skrander jongman met 'n spitsvondige humorsin (‘n 'nie-Afrikaner’) sê eendag vir my met verwysing na die sterftesyfer a.g.v. weerlig: 

   “Die rede waarom so baie van ons deur die weerlig doodgeslaan word is juis omdat ons so bygelowig is; ons voorvadergeeste is baie kwaad daaroor!”

   Aangesien hy 'n gegradueerde jongman was wat van die Engelse digkuns gehou het en dit my baie geinteresseer het, vra ek hom toe watter sy gunsteling gedig was. Sy antwoord (ironies):

Die Ander Man Aan Die Kruis [AFRIKAANS]

(Die verhaal van die kwaaddoener aan die kruis wat meegevoel met Jesus Christus betuig het).

Dit was nou maar éénmaal sy lot; hy was nou maar eenmaal een van daardie ongelukkige drommels … altyd op die verkeerde tyd op die verkeerde plek!

Eerstens, verkeerd gebore: Die Romeinse regering, die trotse maar verslane Joodse nasie; die armoedige agterbuurte van Jerusalem … die gebroke gesin.

Tweedens, verkeerd opgegroei: Toe ander skoolgegaan het, het hy stokkies gedraai; toe ander geleer het om voetbal te speel, het hy geleer om appels te steel; toe ander besig was om skrynwerk te leer, het hy geleer om te kul en te verneuk … steeds altyd op die verkeerde tyd op die verkeerde plek.

Verkeerd het hy begin, verkeerd het hy opgegroei en verkeerd het hy geleef. Dit was dus onvermydelik dat hy ook verkeerd sou eindig: ‘n Romeinse kruis; die skande van teregstelling; ‘n pynlike dood … toe daar skielik, vanaf die middelste kruis, hierdie woorde van reddende genade na hom kom: 

“Voorwaar, vandag sal jy saam met my in die Paradys wees!”

In die ganse geskiedenis van die mensdom kon slegs één, ja net één van al die ontelbare seuns van Adam daardie woorde spreek, en daar hang hy toe sowaar reg langs Hom! Wat ‘n ongelooflike verrassing! Wat ‘n Goddelike Voorsienigheid! In ‘n oogwink is sy lewe, oorgegee aan misdaad en met hom nou gedoem om te sterf, onherroeplik verander om te eindig in roemryke glorie!

Dit was die één sinnetjie waarsonder sukses nooit moontlik sou kon wees nie; die één sinnetjie wat alle mislukking vir ewig kon kanselleer, uitgespreek in die desperate sterwens-oomblikke van ‘n uitvaagsel van ‘n kwaaddoener.

Ja, sy groot probleem van ‘altyd op die verkeerde tyd op die verkeerde plek’ was finaal opgelos:

Ten einde laaste was hy op die REGTE TYD op die REGTE PLEK!

Did Jesus Christ Believe In Evolution?

1. Proposition #1. Jesus Christ did not believe in either Classical (Atheistic) Evolution or in Creative (Theistic) Evolution. Jesus admonished His disciples as follows:

“Let not your heart be troubled. You believe in God, believe also in Me. In My Father's house are many mansions; if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you.” [John 14:1-2].

2. Proposition #2. Atheist-Evolutionists believe in death-after-death, while Jesus Christ (and Christians) believe in life-after-death. Jesus believed in (and taught) life-after-death and angels and even demonstrated on the Mount of Transfiguration that the Old Testament patriarchs and prophets (like Moses and Elijah) saints were still alive:

   “And behold, there appeared to them Moses and Elijah talking with Him [JESUS].” [Matthew 17:3].

3. Proposition #3. Jesus created matter at will (e.g. when He multiplied the loaves and fishes, on more than one occasion) in spite of the fact that science teaches that (in this Universe) matter cannot be created or destroyed; He also did not need ‘millions of years’ to do so.

4. Proposition #4. Jesus definitely did not believe in Creative (Theistic) Evolution. He created matter (loaves & fishes) without having to wait ‘millions of years’ for it to ‘evolve’ and often affirmed the Genesis Creation Record e.g.:

- In His referral to the creation of Adam & Eve and the issue of divorce. “And He answered and said to them, Have you not read that He who made them at the beginning made them male and female.” [Matthew 19:4]. 

P.S. Only 2 genders were created, not 58 or more.

- In His referral to the Flood of Noah and the Ark that saved them. "But as the days of Noah were, so shall be the coming of the Son of Man. For as in the days before the flood, they were eating and drinking, marrying and giving in marriage, until the day Noah entered into the ark. And they did not know until the flood came and took them all away. So also will be the coming of the Son of Man." [Matthew24:37-39].

- In the integrity of His word. “The heaven and the earth shall pass away, but My Words shall not pass away.” [Matthew 24:35].

Dangers Of Scientific Pantheism (Atheism-Evolutionism)

1. What is your Moral Compass? Openmindedness can be innovative and progressive … as long as we are not so openminded that our brain eventually falls out! This can happen when educators and politicians replace time-tested Judeo-Christian values in Education & Politics (even in Economics!) with e.g. a religious cult like Darwinian Evolution, a pseudo-science (atheism-evolutionism or scientific pantheism) devoid of any reliable system of ETHICS and a MORAL COMPASS at all. On what authoritative moral grounds do parents subscribing to such a system tell their children that 'stealing' is wrong ... because the municipal regulations and the police say so?

2. Crime. Do the math: If ‘Evolution’ were really true (i.e. valid) then why, in the absence of a credible gold standard of a moral compass like the Bible, why would murder, robbery, rape, hijacking, kidnapping, human-trafficking, burglary, embezzlement, money-laundering, gangsterism & racketeering be wrong or immoral? What would make 'state capture', fraud, corruption, racketeering, bribery and tender-collusion in the corporate (business) and government sectors wrong or immoral?

3. Judeo-Christian values. Judeo-Christian values have come through centuries on the anvil of history and through the crucible of time, a refining process that included many errors, tears and trouble to create civilisations based on moral law and the principles of divine justice, e.g. Roman-Dutch Law, English-Scots Law and the law of precedents in the Common Law system, supported and enhanced by reasonable, commendable indigenous laws and customs.

4. Deciding between Right & Wrong. Atheist-Evolutionists (Scientific Pantheists) are in a quandary; how must they decide (and how can they know) the difference between RIGHT and WRONG? Who determines morality for them … Dawkins, Russell, Hitchens, Nye, Krauss, Darwin, Stalin, Marx, Hitler or Secular Humanism’s dicey ‘situational ethics’, 'freethought', 'consequentialism' and ‘moral relativism’? 

- 'Situational Ethics' is not an ideal moral compass because situations may sometimes dictate a type of morality in breach of Biblical values and principles, in other words, in breach of God's principles and values;

- 'Freethought' is not an ideal moral compass because mankind is notoriously depraved and should not be allowed free license to do what he freely contemplates to do without the adult supervision of God through the moral compass par excellence of God's Word, the Bible; 

- 'Consequentialism' is not an ideal moral compass because even judges, magistrates, advocates, defence attorneys, criminologists and the police will tell us that many, if not most, crimes go unpunished without any deterring consequences at all; and

- 'Moral Relativism' is mot an ideal moral compass because God has clearly warned (and the Bible clearly teaches) that, "Woe to those who call evil good and good evil; and call darkness light and light darkness!"   

  When any person sees a crooked line, he immediately recognises it as crooked, because he knows what a straight line is supposed to look like. Without the ‘gold standard’ of a straight line (like the Bible) to compare against, however, how will we ever tell that a line is crooked? When the scientific pantheists (atheist-evolutionists) opted for their brand of ‘cosmology-theology’, they discarded God’s straight line, the Bible … the Creator’s Gold Standard and Moral Compass for the Cosmos. God warns: 

   "Woe to those who call evil good and good evil; who put darkness for light and light for darkness; who put bitter for sweet and sweet for bitter! Woe to those wise in their own eyes, and bright in their own sight!" [Isaiah5:20-21].

   “For My people have committed two evils; they have forsaken Me, the Fountain of living waters, to hew out cisterns for themselves, broken cisterns that can hold no water.” [Jeremiah2:13].

Did Evolution Really Cause The Fossil Record?

1. Noah's Flood & The Fossil Record. Had Noah’s Flood (from the Book of Genesis) really happened, one would have expected the fossil-record to display corroborating evidence commensurate with such a Flood. The fossil-record research today shows:

- that animals that lived on the lowest levels were also, during the Biblical Flood, buried in the lowest strata of the sediment.

- that animals from the same ecological community were buried together during the Flood.

- that animals with the simplest forms were buried first during the Flood as hydrological forces would have sorted creatures with corresponding shapes during such a deluge.

- that invertebrate sea creatures are found in the lowest strata as they lived at the bottom of the sea during the Flood.

- that the fishes were found in higher strata as fishes could have escaped through water to higher levels during the Flood.

- that the first land plants were found where the first amphibians were found as a result of the Flood.

- that amphibians and reptiles were found buried higher up than fishes, but lower than or below land animals; and very few land plants and land animals were found in the lower strata as a result of the Flood.

- that animals and birds, in general, were found on higher levels than reptiles and amphibians as a result of the Flood.

- that herd animals that may have escaped together during the Flood were found together in the same strata.

- that very few birds were found in strata as they probably would have escaped to higher levels during the Flood.

- that heavier, stronger animals were sorted separately from weaker, smaller animals during the Flood.

- that very few people (humans) were found in strata as they probably would have been more innovative in trying to escape from the Biblical Flood.

2. Conclusion. It would thus appear as if the Genesis Creation Record i.r.o. the Flood of Noah has been vindicated by these finds about fossils. Bear in mind that the apostles and Jesus Christ (who never lied) have personally affirmed the historicity of the Genesis Creation Record and the actual events i.r.o. Noah's Flood and the Ark:

2.1 Affirmed by the Epistle to the Hebrews. "By faith Noah, having been warned by God of things not yet seen, moved with fear, prepared an ark to the saving of his house, by which he condemned the world and became heir of the righteousness which is according to faith." [Hebrews11:7]. 

2.2 Affirmed by the Epistle of the Apostle Peter.  "And He did not spare the old world, but saved Noah the eighth one, a preacher of righteousness, bringing in the flood upon the world of the ungodly." [2Peter2:5].

2.3 Affirmed by Jesus Christ in the Gospels. "But as the days of Noah were, so shall be the coming of the Son of Man. For as in the days before the flood, they were eating and drinking, marrying and giving in marriage, until the day Noah entered into the ark. And they did not know until the flood came and took them all away. So also will be the coming of the Son of Man." [Matthew24:37-39].

Darwinism (Progressive Evolution) Finally Exposed

1. 'The Evolution of God'. In reply to Robert Wright’s book, The Evolution of God (2009), evolutionist Nicholas Wade (b.1942) writes as follows: ”Evolution seems to me a sufficient explanation for the moral progress that Mr. Wright correctly discerns in the human condition, so there seemed no compelling need to invoke a deity.”

2. What 'moral progress'? The million-rouble question here is: What moral progress is Mr. Wade talking about? Some cases in point (2018/2019 statistics: Check government websites for latest statistics, i.e. 2019/2020):

2.1 Drunken driving. South Africa (RSA) holds the world record for drunken driving. Fifty percent (50%) of deaths on the roads involves a blood-alcohol concentration of 0.05 grams per 100 ml.

2.2 RSA Liquor consumption. RSA citizens are of the heaviest drinkers in the world, i.e. >31% of people over 15 yrs of age consume alcohol with 28.9 litres of pure alcohol per capita consumed annually.

2.3 RSA Divorce rate. The RSA has a divorce rate of 4 in 10 marriages.

2.4 RSA Murder. In the RSA 58 people are murdered every day.

2.5 RSA Sexual assault. In the RSA 114 people are being sexually assualted or raped everyday.

2.6 RSA Common assault. Common assaults: 444 per day.

2.7 RSA Common robberies. Common robberies: 142 per day.

2.8 RSA Robbery with aggravated assault: 384 per day.

2.9 RSA House Burglary: 605 per day.

2.10 RSA Carjacking: 44 per day.

2.11 RSA Cash-In-Transit Heists: 183 in 2018/2019.

3. Citing socio-economic causes for this decay are no longer valid. I was born on one of the richest, if not indeed the richest, gold reefs in the world, i.e. the Main Reef of the Witwatersrand ('White Waters Ridge') and only an hour's drive from where the world's biggest gem-quality diamond (the 'Cullinan') in 1905 was found.  South Africa ought to be one of the wealthiest countries in the western world, but it is being raided and fleeced by crime and corruption of all and diverse kinds, on corporate as well as on government level, e.g.:

3.1 the multi-billion rand ‘State Capture’ saga currently being investigated by the prohibitively costly Zondo Commission of Inquiry; and

3.2 the (organized, premeditated, whitecollar) VBS Bank Heist, an 'inside job' the biggest in the RSA’s history.

4. Moral ‘progress? So, the secular humanists' talk of 'moral progress' sounds empty and hollow against the backdrop of these statistics and facts, and their “No compelling need for a deity” disingenuous (at best) and totally nonsensical (at worst). 'Evolution' (sic) is devolving fast and we need the GOD (the YHWH of Moses and Mt. Sinai) and Jesus Christ more than ever in all of modern history. 

   Another question springs to mind: Except for a 100% mortality rate for every generation is this all that 'Evolution' can further offer the world (and South Africans) after 'million of years' of 'progressive evolution'?

Did Jesus Christ Know Science?

1. Did Jesus Christ Know Science? To this question I cannot help but to respond with: “Is grass green? Is the sky blue? Is water wet?” The notion entertained by some people, even by some Christians, that Jesus of Nazareth was some kind of a semi-illiterate first century ignoramus and deluded (albeit sincere) ‘religious fanatic’ on a passionate quest to reform His local synagogue, is one of the worst errors they can ever make about this humble carpenter rabbi from Nazareth. Notes:

1.1 Jesus Christ was the Projects Engineer responsible for the creation of the Universe. The Bible says: 

   ”God, who at many times and in many ways spoke in time past to the fathers by the pro-phets, has in these last days spoken to us by His Son, whom He has appointed heir of all things, by whom also He made the worlds, who being the shining splendor of His glory, and the express image of His essence, and upholding all things by the word of His power …” [Hebrews1:1-3a].

1.2 As Creator of the Universe, Jesus Christ was obviously acquainted with the workings of such scientific phenomena as Universal Gravitation, the Strong & Weak Nuclear Forces, the Electromagnetic Spectrum, the Periodic Table of the Elements, Acoustics, Quantum Mechanics, Astrophysics, Celestial Mechanics & Universal Constants etc. So unfathomably profound was the mysterious world which He represented (and had hailed from) that the Apostle Paul could at best exclaim:

   “And I know such a man (whether in the body, or outside of the body, I do not know; God knows), that he was caught up into Paradise and heard unspeakable words, which it is not allowed for a man to utter." [2Corinthians12:3-4].

2. Why Did Jesus Not Teach More ‘Natural Science’? My submission is that Jesus’ problem was His notoriously unsophisticated, first-century ‘audience’; He simply could not discuss even today’s 21st century science with His public, let alone the mysterious science of the HEAVENLY realm from whence He had hailed. At the time He lamented:

   “If I have told you earthly things and you do not believe, how shall you believe if I tell you heavenly things?" [John3:12].
