Bear in mind that, as C.S. Lewis has once remarked, the mortality rate for e.g. the human race is 100% for every person alive, and that the huge number of people alive today (more than 7 billion) is no guarantee of safety at all; it is appointed for man once to die and thereafter ... judgment: [Hebrews 9:27] And as it is appointed unto men once to die, but after this the judgment. Sorry to disappoint some, but there can be no 'reincarnation'.
Likewise the mortality rate for animals, in spite of the great numbers of wildebeest in Serengeti, is 100%; if the crocodile does not catch it, the lion or cheetah will, and, should they fail, old age and the vultures will get him. We can, at best, only hope to delay the 'day of reckoning', but can not postpone if indefinitely.
2.1 The Problem With Socialism. The problem with socialism is its historical legacy of inefficiency and infamous production constraints (resulting in chronic shortages and long queues in shops) driven by a huge dysfunctional, centralised command-control economic system of a government hell-bent on Marxist ideology.
The nuclear fall-out of this system is the phenomenon where everybody (especially those comrade-bureaucrats in government) are all eagerly jostling for position in the state-machinery from where they somehow can concoct the best deal for themselves with the few resources available … either in hard cash, benefits or perks of some kind. No wonder the first 'liberation-movement' to govern South Africa, the ANC, which has established itself on the very principles most cold-war era liberation-movements were founded upon, i.e. Marxism-Communism, has now finally floundered on the rocks of (government & big business) fraud, corruption and racketeering on a scale so massive it defies imagination.
In the article Capitalism Or Socialism: You Decide! (click) I explain how Capitalism, though flawed currently the only viable (Biblically supported) system in existence, eventually will have to give way to God's perfect system after the end of this age.
3. SOUTH AFRICAN 'DEMOCRACY'. Greed is colourblind, and will rear its ugly, lice-infested head anytime and anywhere where political or financial expedience may care to beckon, whether it is in Africa, Eastern Europe and Asia, or in the West.
South Africa's democracy is only 25 years old, and in this period the country has (unfortunately) degenerated from its previous position as 'the skunk of the world' (due to its notorious apartheid-past) to where it today has to fund numerous (and prohibitively expensive) commissions of inquiry in order to address its scandalous (government & big business driven) 'state capture', fraud, corruption and racketeering by the governing 'liberation-movement' (sic) on a scale so massive that it defies both reason and imagination. (More information in my article, South Africa: The Country With A Hole In It) (click).
This 'liberation movement' was responsible for enormous economic and collateral damage to South Africans e.g. in lost 'RDP houses', and lost sanitation systems, roads, hospitals & clinics, transport, trains & buses, schools & educational facilities etc., as well as the wholesale decimation of many of its SOE's (state-owned enterprises).
Many of the people who were 'liberated' by this 'liberation movement' (sic) in 1994 were those predators and scavengers liberated, empowered and let loose to plunder and splurge at large and at will, i.e. those diabolical agents of crime, 'state capture', white-collar 'bank heists' and all kinds of tender collusion ... and that with the full protection of the state and the president! They have even turned the Department of Correctional Services (the prisons sector) into the Department of Corruptional Services ... and what an insult to the once noble legacy of the proud and sincere Nelson Mandela.
While the new 'liberated' elite (with few exceptions) was riding the gravy-train to Dubai, Beijing, Harrods and 5th Avenue, their defenceless little ones were drowning in primitive pit toilets back in rural South Africa. The hard fact of life in South Africa is that, in the case of the ruling party (a classic African 'liberation-movement' still doggedly clinging to the worship of ancestral spirits and veneration of forefathers) that has been ruling since 1994, the magic, democratic 'majority-vote' did not guarantee honesty in state-administration or corruption-free governance for the country (on the contrary).
4. THE FALLACY OF SAFETY IN NUMBERS. Democracy is that system that allegedly (just like the case may be with buffalo, wildebeest, birds and fishes in the wild) promises and guarantees safety in numbers; after all, how can the majority ever be wrong? It is a system that apparently, however, completely ignores the fact that all people are basically bad, and not basically good. As somebody has once mentioned, however, in spite of being basically bad, the trait of true goodness in people is (admittedly) quite possible, provided that the sought-after goodness dormant in people is vigorously and indefatigably mined and pursued, a scarce commodity in our secular humanist driven society indeed.
As most secular humanists (a kinder term for modern suburban atheists) probably deny the concept or idea of evil (the antithesis of good) and consequently have automatically discarded good (the thesis) as an idea or concept to be cherished as well; the upshot of this tragic indiscretion is that they apparently have completely lost the God-given gift of discerning between good and evil when the chips are down. The secular humanist's terrible moral dilemma, consequently, is that one cannot mine a 'commodity' (good) in people when one does not even believe (or know) that such a thing or commodity even exists.
So, the arithmetic of the naive democracy-pundits fails them when they erroneously assume that only good and particularly virtuous people usually will, by default, intuitively choose and insist on democratic governing systems in the first place, and that all democracies therefore automatically comprise only good and virtuous people. God, however, warns in no uncertain terms that one should never applaud or follow the majority just because they are the majority:
Thou shalt not follow a multitude to do evil; neither shalt thou speak in a cause to decline after many to wrest judgment [Exodus 23:2].
But the men of Sodom were wicked and sinners before the LORD exceedingly. And the LORD said, Because the cry of Sodom and Gomorrah is great, and because their sin is very grievous; And there came two angels to Sodom at even; and Lot sat in the gate of Sodom: and Lot seeing them rose up to meet them; and he bowed himself with his face toward the ground;
God apparently has the peculiar habit of only respecting and cherishing the righteous and the faithful (irrespective of whether they are the majority or the minority). Whereas the world of the democrat is founded on the principle of 'one man, one vote', the Kingdom of God is founded on the principle of 'a vote for only one man ... the man Christ Jesus!' (and not the Pope):
For there is one God, and one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus [1Timothy 2:5]
But now hath he [JESUS] obtained a more excellent ministry, by how much also he [JESUS] is the mediator of a better covenant, which was established upon better promises.
And for this cause he [JESUS] is the mediator of the new testament, that by means of death, for the redemption of the transgressions that were under the first testament, they which are called might receive the promise of eternal inheritance.
And to Jesus the mediator of the new covenant, and to the blood of sprinkling, that speaketh better things than that of Abel. [Hebrews 8:6; 9:15; 12:24].
P.S. If the Pope (any Pope) really was capable of, through the facility of 'absolution', forgiving all of peoples' sins against God simply at will, then he would have been capable of healing at will same from all their diseases too, for this is the true Biblical litmus-test to prove authentic divine authority. Jesus could heal the sick at will because Jesus could forgive sins at will. How many sick people have the Pope ever healed in comparison to the number of times he has provided 'absolution' to people? The Bible says:
And, behold, they brought to him a man sick of the palsy, lying on a bed: and Jesus seeing their faith said unto the sick of the palsy; Son, be of good cheer; thy sins be forgiven thee.
And, behold, certain of the scribes said within themselves, This man blasphemeth.
And Jesus knowing their thoughts said, Wherefore think ye evil in your hearts?
For whether is easier, to say, Thy sins be forgiven thee; or to say, Arise, and walk?
But that ye may know that the Son of man hath power on earth to forgive sins, (then saith he to the sick of the palsy,) Arise, take up thy bed, and go unto thine house.
And he arose, and departed to his house.
But when the multitudes saw it, they marvelled, and glorified God, which had given such power unto men. [Matthew 9:2-8].
5. THE PERFECT FUTURE SYSTEM OF GOVERNANCE. Only one (and one only) perfect system of governance and public administration is contemplated by the Evangelical community in Christendom, and that is the one envisaged and promised by Jesus Christ as articulated by the many scribes of the Books of the Bible:
Let not your heart be troubled: ye believe in God, believe also in me. In my Father's house are many mansions: if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you. And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again, and receive you unto myself; that where I am, there ye may be also. [John 14:1-3].
If we suffer, we shall also reign with him: if we deny him, he also will deny us [2 Timothy 2:12].
And he that overcometh, and keepeth my works unto the end, to him will I [JESUS] give power over the nations: And he shall rule them with a rod of iron; as the vessels of a potter shall they be broken to shivers: even as I received of my Father. [Revelations 2:26-27].
