▎INTRODUCTION. Good reasons abound for voting in a constitutional democracy such as ours. According to the Electoral Commission of SA (‘Top Reasons To Vote’, Online) citizens need to vote (P.S. Paraphrasing in brackets mine):
l Because we can (i.e., SA citizens 18 years and
older by Law granted the right to participate legally).
l Because elections have consequences (i.e.,
political, economical, socio-cultural etc.).
l Because not voting is giving up our voice (i.e., to
raise a personal opinion on how, and by whom, the country should be governed).
l Because our money is used to govern (i.e.,
everybody’s money, including the money of the unemployed and or homeless who
still must buy food and pay VAT).
l Because ‘Democracy’ needs us (i.e. for a democracy
to succeed it must be driven by the people for the people. In a democracy the
people are ‘the government’).
l Because it is an opportunity for change (i.e., in a democracy political change is engineered by voting and casting our ballot at the voting booth, and not through a military ‘coup’ or by the Mao-style, dictatorial, violent overthrow of the opposition through the ‘barrel of a gun’.
l Because our generation knows best (i.e., our
generation is well-disposed to and thoroughly exposed to modern technology,
connectivity, satellite communication devices and conveniences).
P.S. May I add: Because your ballot will be in SECRET and nobody will be able to see how you have voted.
▎OBJECTIONS TO VOTING. Two popular objections are:
▶ “My single vote will not change history." I beg your pardon … just look around you and see the crumbling villages, decaying townships and broken-down cities. See the neglected roads, the potholes and decaying infrastructure. See the corruption, the self-enrichment by wealthy politicians, the arrests for fraud among government office-bearers and businessmen, the asset forfeitures of racketeers’ properties and ill-gotten gains, the falling apart of schools and hospitals, daily loadshedding, poor service delivery all over the country and the pièce de résistance … the worst unemployment ever and pit latrines in schools in an age of Moon and Mars space exploration!
This is how your
non-voting changed history when you did not vote during the 2019
National Election … and probably before that too.
▶ “I do not want to get involved.” Many people argue from the point of departure
that they ‘are not from this world’ and prefer ‘not to get involved in secular
politics’. Bear in mind that one does not have to be a chicken to know how a
good omelette is supposed to taste; so, one does not have to be a politician to
know how a country ought to be run effectively.
Especially Christians (and even all decent & honest non-Christians) are supposed to be the ‘salt of the earth’. Salt is a very useful natural agent:
- Salt preserves (proven Judeo-Christian, conservative values);
- disinfects (the toxic corruption so endemic in government);
- improves taste (i n a Leftist, pagan society totally devoid of any fear of God or a moral com-pass);
- and irritates (Christians are not only called to comfort the afflicted,
but also to the afflict the comfortable).
Just imagined
if Jesus Christ had taken the attitude of ‘not getting involved in the secular
world’; where would we have been today? This humble carpenter from Nazareth
left the beauties, delicacies and comforts
of Heaven so that the world might not go lost but be saved by faith in Christ.
So, what makes us too important to get involved in this world while we are
here?
▎THE MOST IMPORTANT REASON TO VOTE IN THE NATIONAL ELECTION IOF 2024. The socialism driven SACP has written (here underlined for emphasis):
“The SACP must have Deployment and Accountability Committees at national, provincial and district levels whose role is to ensure maximum possible deployment and accountability of our cadres in various responsibilities in both the state and outside the state. These structures must aim to also strengthen the capacity of SACP cadres to perform well in the widest range of their deployments, while at the same time ensuring accountability and answerability to the Party.” [‘The South African Road to Socialism’ . SACP, 13th Congress, 2017. Online].
Note the telltale term: "Ensuring accountability and answerability to the Party" (not accountability and answerability to Parliament or to the citizens of South Africa!).
▎ THE RSA: MISMANAGED LIKE A LITTLE 'BONSAI USSR'. South Africa today is being governed by sworn communists & socialists wearing a fake 'CONSTITUTIONAL DEMOCRACY’ mask while trying to manage the RSA like an obsolete little USSR. Look around you and what do you see ... how has it been working for you? Bear in mind our country today, world champions in:
- rugby
- drunk % reckless driving
- alcohol abuse
- gender based violence
- violent crime
- unemployment
- government sponsored/enabled state capture, fraud, racketeering, corruption/ illegal & immoral cadre & comrade self-enrichment
- tragic collapse of municipalities and State Owned Enterprises (SOEs)
- poor or zero service delivery to citizens.
Thanks to the Tripartite Alliance’s cadre-deployment policy founded on its defunct, hybrid ‘Democratic Socialism’ pipe-dream (an ideology inspired by its colonialist ideologues and masters Karl Marx, Leon Trotsky and Friedrich Engels, i.e., the founders of Socialism & Communism) South Africa, the former anchor tenant on the continent of Africa, has been reduced to a shadow of its former economic self by the TA-partners of ANC + SACP + COSATU today running the risk of being reduced to no more than a decrepit little spaza shop down under at the southernmost tip of Africa.
A wise man has once said: "Bad leaders are elected by eligible voters who never vote."
Vote for CHANGE on 1 May 2024.
