The Great Equaliser

Most of us are familiar with funny ‘epitaphs’, and, no wonder, surely as the same Creator who created eyes Himself has eyes to see and created ears has ears to hear, He also created a sense of humour and certainly must have a keen sense of humour Himself. An example:

“Here lies Martin Elginbrodde,

Hae mercy on my soul Lord God,

as I would do were I Lord God,

and ye were Martin Elginbrodde!”

[Brief Poems. Funny Epitaphs, Online].

Nevertheless, in real life the subject of death is rarely a laughing matter. There is an upside, however, but an upside few people take seriously and best described by the famous 19th Century English preacher, Charles Spurgeon:

“Death is not the end of living; it is the end of dying.”

Yes, instead of adhering to the religious cult of Death-after-Death (Atheism), I am of those who believe in Life-after-Death.

THREE PRIMARY WOLDVIEWS. Now there are many kinds of beliefs and ideas of how the world works and, provided we have the time and inclination, may judge on the value and merit of each of them. Nevertheless, all those already mentioned could, for arguments’ sake, be reduced to three primary viewpoints, i.e.:

Those that believe that God exists and that He is GOOD.

Those that believe that God exists but that He is EVIL.

Those that believe that God is DEAD.

LIFE IS SHORT. Metaphorically speaking, life is as short as the little ‘hyphen’ between our date-of-birth and date-of-demise on our tombstone, a brief season of fast, furious and often painful and traumatic ‘potty training’ for Eternity; or, perhaps more elegantly described, ‘a ‘finishing school’ for future citizens of the real world of Eternity. It will ‘finish’ us, no doubt, as no one will make it out here ‘alive’. The Bible says:

“And as it is appointed to men once to die, but after this the judgment … For the time has come for the judgment to begin from the house of God. And if it first begins from us, what will be the end of those disobeying the gospel of God?”

[Hebrews9:27; 1Peter4:17MKJV].

‘GOD IS DEAD'. Do the math: If God is dead, what would make murder, robbery, stealing (or any other crime for that matter) wrong? On the contrary, God may be more alive than we as humans on this earth could ever hope to be. God’s life (authentic, absolute, infinite, eternal 'ZOE' life) differs from ours (borrowed, temporary 'BIOS' life). Jesus Christ says:

“For as [GOD] the Father has life in Himself, so He has given to the Son [JESUS CHRIST] to have life within Himself… and you will not come to Me that you might have life.”

 [John5:26, 40 MKJV].

‘GOD IS EVIL’.

In high school I excelled in maths, but even so I will never understand the atheist block’s reasoning that teaches that God could be both ‘dead’ and ‘evil’ at the same time; have the atheists perhaps invented some new brand of ultra-omnipotence for God of which we Christians still know nothing about?
Nevertheless, contrary to what the secular humanists teach (moral relativism & situational ethics) the world is founded on the principle that we live in a moral Universe and that there is a difference between good & evil and light & darkness. Jesus has said:

”And this is the condemnation, that the Light has come into the world, and men loved darkness rather than the Light, because their deeds were evil. For everyone who does evil hates the Light, and does not come to the Light, lest his deeds should be exposed. But he who practices truth comes to the Light so that his works may be revealed, that they exist, having been worked in God.”

[John3:19-21MKJV].

GOD IS! (GOD EXISTS!). A fish born without eyes living in a subterranean lake has a better chance of disproving the existence of LIGHT than an atheist has of disproving the existence of GOD.
C.S. Lewis has said that, just as we know the sun exists not only by looking at the sun but by looking around us and seeing that which the sun lights up every day, so we can know that God exists not by searching for God in the Cosmos (you won’t find Henry Ford in the engine of a Ford automobile) but by looking around us and seeing the world that God lights up for us to see every day.
By the sun's lights we see everything else on earth around us; likewise, by God's LIGHT, we see everything else in the Universe (range of vision allowing). King David writes:

“When I look at Your heavens, the work of Your fingers, the moon and the stars which You have established; what is man that You are mindful of him, and the son of man, that You visit him?"

[Psalm8:3-4MKJV].

God Himself says:

“And God said to Moses, I AM THAT I AM. And He said, So you shall say to the sons of Israel, I AM has sent me to you ....I have made the earth, and created man on it; I with My hands have stretched out the heavens; and all their host have I commanded.”

[Exodus3:14MKJV; Isaiah45:12MKJV].
