Creationism vs. Atheism: Where Richard Dawkins Has Lost His Way

1. Freedom of Religion. Man was created a free moral agent and in terms of the principle of the freedom of religion, anyone, including Richard Dawkins (RD), is free to pursue his religion-of-choice as he sees fit, which, in his case, is the religion or belief-system of Atheism.

2. Where RD has lost his way. The hosts or stewards of Richard Dawkins Quotes, i.e. ‘Good-Reads’, quotes RD as saying in his book, The God Delusion:

   “The God of the Old Testament is arguably the most unpleasant character in all fiction: jealous and proud of it; a petty, unjust, unforgiving control-freak; a vindictive, bloodthirsty ethnic cleanser; a misogynistic, homophobic, racist, infanticidal, genocidal, filicidal, pestilential, megalomaniacal, sadomasochistic, capriciously malevolent bully.”

3. RD’s remarks about God is most disconcerting, even frightening.

3.1 God a 'fictional character'? RD’s reference to the Old Testament God (the YHWH or Jehovah of Moses & Mt. Sinai) as a ‘fictional character’ is academically disingenuous; had God really been ‘fictional;’ such vitriolic remarks as his (the 'adult' version of a temper tantrum) would have been most inappropriate for a scientist of his stature. Here's the deal: Atheists hate God (and Christians and devout Jews love and fear Him) because God is HOLY, and not because He is 'dead' or 'evil'.

3.2 Absolute Truth? Atheists, the proponents of moral relativism & situational ethics, do not believe in Absolute Truth (i.e. or in God, the epitome of Absolute Truth) except for the ‘absolute truth’ of Atheism. If there is then no such thing as ‘Absolute Truth’, how can RD know that his Atheism is true?

3.3 Taking God's Name in vain. Were God really a ‘fictional character’ (sic) RD would have had no problem, but with his profane and blasphemous outbursts he has (as it were) taken on the august “I AM!” of Moses & Mt. Sinai, who has warned:

   “You shall not take the name of Jehovah your God in vain. For Jehovah will not hold him guiltless that takes His name in vain.” [Exodus20:7].

P.S. Not even the Pharaoh of the Exodus, in his debates, arguments and diatribes with Moses over the political status of the 'Children of Israel' (or the absence of it) has dared to use such language toward God; yet he still ended up with ten plagues and with the last plague the death of his eldest son. Maybe RD should tread a little more cautious when approaching the Creator who has made this majestic Universe and who holds life and death in His hands.

3.4 Cursing the Jew (Abraham). By insulting and blaspheming the God of the Christian but particularly the Jew (by cursing the God of the Jew and of Moses) RD has invoked another problem of monumental proportions, for to Abraham, the father of the Jewish nation and Israel, God has promised:

   “And I will bless those that bless you and curse the one who curses you … ” [Genesis12:3a].

3.5 Rejecting the Pearl of Great Price. By rejecting God’s loving offer of Salvation through the Gospel of Jesus Christ, RD is rejecting a priceless (‘never to be repeated after death’) offer and, like Judas Iscarioth, is flinging away the ultimate pearl of great price. The Bible warns:

   “He who despised Moses' Law died without mercy on the word of two or three witnesses. Of how much worse punishment, do you suppose, will he be thought worthy of punishment, the one who has trampled the Son of God, and who has counted the blood of the covenant with which he was sanctified an unholy thing, and has insulted the Spirit of grace?” [Hebrews-10:28-29].

4. Omar Khayyam. A wise man from the East and a famous mathematician and philosopher, i.e. Omar Khayyam (1048-1131) once wrote:

"The moving finger writes and having writ moves on;
Not all your piety or wit shall lure it back to cancel half-a-line,
Nor al your tears wash out a word of it."
