1. Do-It-Yourself pesticides. There is a man I know who, after having spent large sums of money on pesticides and insecticides to get rid of the harvester ants in his garden; and, also after having spent a small fortune on a local ‘pest control’ firm (to no avail) for the same reason, eventually did get rid of the pests by installing a ‘homemade patent’ of his own, i.e. containers filled with sticky sugar-syrup strategically placed all over the yard, and even inside his house, e.g. in the kitchen and in the bathroom for the little black ants so prevalent in pursuit of bread-crumbs, food-scraps and water.
It was not long after that the (exterior as
well as interior) ants were contained. Harvester ants cannot really be
exterminated; there numbers (including eggs in nests) are simply too great;
but, they can be managed and contained, with sticky traps like sugar-syrup and other innovations. The
man hasn’t ruled out pesticides, but valiantly tries to avoid them.
2. The mosquito plague. An interesting phenomenon is where we tried to contain mosquitoes, flies and chinch-bugs by hanging out a few (unsightly, I may add) ‘sticky trap’ strips (near kitchen windows and out in the ‘summer-house’) purchased at a local hardware store. The mosquitoes and flies were drawn to these ‘sticky traps’ like positively phototactic insects to a UV-light, probably because they were drawn by either sheer coincidence, the smell of the glue, the movement of the tape in a light breeze or wind that created the illusion of a living organism (with blood) or the illusion of large crowds of insects gathering there (eventually) as if for a rowdy beach-party.
P.S.More people are killed in Africa by mosquitoes than any other animal (including crocodiles & hippopotamuses) due to the threat of malaria in some regions.
3. The human corollary. Beware of sticky traps’, the human corollary
of which would e.g. be agnos ticism, atheism, atheism-evolutionism,
spiritualism, astrology, freemasonry, cybernetics, secular-humanism, postmodernism, spiritualism, astrology, false
cults etc. These forces, the ideological
‘sticky traps’ of society, will draw you away from God and onto a sticky, lethal
‘surface’ from which you may never be able to escape. Jesus Christ has
cautioned:
“For there shall arise false Christs, and false prophets, and shall shew great signs and wonders; insomuch that, if it were possible, they shall deceive the very elect.” [Matthew24:24].
